Seminar Announcement – Kakedameshi: The Original Kumite of Karate

Join us on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, from 2:30pm-5:30pm at Shorei Karate Studios in Bradley, IL, for a chance to learn more about the ancient sparring practice of kakedameshi, and how you can incorporate it into your training! Funakoshi Gichin, the founder of Shotokan, once said, “kumite exists for the practice of kata,” but most karateka don’t spar in ways that really allow them to apply their kata. Kakedameshi is a way to bring your kata to life by forcing you to stay at the range karate was originally developed to fight in, and it’s a blast to practice!
